The Green Bay Packers signed running back Josh Jacobs last offseason from the Las Vegas Raiders. Jacobs provided a big boost to the Packers’ offense during the 2024 season.
There were times when quarterback Jordan Love did not look sharp and Jacobs needed to take the game over. Love also missed a couple of games due to injury and Malik Willis started a couple of games for them. Also, Josh Jacobs was the primary back last season, and looked like he was one of the best running backs in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Ranked 34 On PFF For Top 101 Players Of 2024
Pro Football Focus ranked its Top 101 players for the 2024 season. To no surprise, Jacobs was one of the top running backs on the list. Josh Jacobs was ranked 34th on their list of the best players during the 2024 NFL season. Pro Football Focus said:
“Even in a new uniform, Jacobs made his mark and put up a career-high 92.4 PFF grade. That performance puts him in elite company, as he joins Adrian Peterson and Derrick Henry as the only running backs to eclipse a 91.0 overall grade in multiple seasons since PFF began tracking data in 2006. Jacobs and Henry are the only players to accomplish the feat with two franchises.”
Josh Jacobs rushed for 1,329 yards on 301 carries and 15 touchdowns, along with averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He also caught 36 passes for 342 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 9.5 yards per reception. Jacobs was effective in both the passing and ground game this past season.
Three Running Backs Ranked Ahead Of Him
Three running backs were ranked ahead of Josh Jacobs for the 2024 season. Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons was ranked 15th, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles was ranked 10th, and Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens was fifth. There is no question that Barkley and Henry had better years than Jacobs did, but Robinson being ranked 15th seems a little high.
However, it is correct that those are the top four running backs in the NFL. Josh Jacobs is no doubt an elite running back when healthy and it showed this past season for the Packers.
