Early on in the offseason, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs promised fans that he was going to go on the recruiting trail and try to bring some of his old Las Vegas Raiders teammates to Green Bay. At the time, fans envisioned a reunion with their former All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, or a trade for All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
For a while, it appeared like Green Bay had a decent chance to land at least one of them. As it happens, though, they got neither. Adams signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams while Crosby signed a massive contract extension to remain in Las Vegas.
But Jacobs kept his promise (or, at least, we can surmise that he did). On Monday, the Packers did indeed sign one of his former teammates.
Former Las Vegas Raiders Cornerback Nate Hobbs Has Signed with the Green Bay Packers

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Packers signed former Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs to a four-year $48 million that can be worth up to $50 million with incentives.
The signing comes amid questions regarding Jaire Alexander’s future with the team. That being said, ESPN’ Rob Demovsky reported today that the Packers do not plan on moving him. Yet.
Demovsky states that it is not yet known if Green Bay will be able to trade Alexander or if they will release him.
In any case, signing Dobbs indicates that the Packers were serious about upgrading their depth at the cornerback position. And based on some advanced stats, it sure looks like they did.
Per PFF, Dobbs has a 81.6 run defense grade throughout his career, which is the sixth-highest among cornerbacks. Additionally, he has made 81 defensive stops, which ranks seventh among players at his position.
The 33rd Team reported that Dobbs had a coverage EPA of -15.6, which was the 11th best among defensive backs.
Former Packers defensive back Tazim Wajid Wajed, Christian Watson’s father, posted on X, “Packers Nation, you want a DOG at corner… WE GOT ONE.”
While Dobbs played slot corner primarily in Las Vegas, it is expected that he will be a boundary cornerback in Jeff Hafley’s defense.
