The Green Bay Packers decided to take offensive tackle Jordan Morgan with the 25th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from Arizona. He was a starter for Arizona at left tackle. This was a need for the Packers organization, but there are some questions as to whether or not he will be able to play tackle at the next level.
There may be a point where the Packers may need to move him to guard and some people think he could be a bust already without playing a single game yet. There is all of training camp and other off-season workouts to decide where Jordan Morgan will fit on this football team.
As for now, it will be interesting to see how the depth chart plays out on the offensive line for Green Bay. Where is Morgan on the Packers’ depth chart at the moment?
Rasheed Walker Is Ahead of Jordan Morgan On the Depth Chart At the Left Tackle Position For the Green Bay Packers
For now, Walker is listed first on the depth chart because he started games at left tackle a season ago for the Packers. Whether or not he is the starter for Week 1 is another story. Rasheed Walker was not great by any means a season ago, but he is the better option for now than Jordan Morgan.
Morgan will get plenty of chances to be the starting left tackle for the Packers in Week 1. According to Michael Gallagher of Yardbarker, he thinks that Walker could lose the job to Morgan this season. He wrote:
“Walker played 966 snaps at left tackle last season, surrendering six sacks and allowing 36 pressures and 24 hurries, per Pro Football Focus. He allowed the most sacks and second-most pressures and hurries among Packers offensive linemen.
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Morgan played nearly 2,500 snaps at left tackle at Arizona, surrendering just 10 sacks in five seasons and allowing more than 20 pressures just once. If he has a good camp and preseason showing, Morgan could challenge for Green Bay’s starting LT spot.”
Experience at the college level will matter for Morgan when trying to prove himself during training camp. He has experience at the left tackle position and it is one of the reasons why general manager Brian Gutekunst drafted him. They hope Jordan Morgan can be the next David Bahktiari at the left tackle position, but time will tell in how he will grow and develop into the left tackle position.
