The Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love are coming off two straight losses that have them on the outside looking in (currently) of the 2023 NFC Playoff picture. The Packers had control of their own destiny after three straight impressive wins.
Those wins seem like a distant memory now though. The Packers have lost two straight and are searching for answers on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Being that Green Bay could possibly be focusing on the 2024 draft vice the 2023 playoffs, one trade is surfacing that would land them a premium first-round draft pick next off-season.
The Green Bay Packers Land #4 Overall Pick In The 2024 NFL Draft Via A Jordan Love Proposed Trade
Ryan Heckman of Fansided highlighted how the Packers could land one of the best draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft:
For a franchise so used to excellent play at quarterback, the Packers might not be fully committed to Love, going forward. What if, just what if, Green Bay opted to go a different direction? Let’s say they offer Love, plus a haul, to move up and reset the quarterback clock?
One franchise that might make sense is the Washington Commanders, who will definitely have a new coaching staff next season. With Sam Howell performing better than some thought he would, he’d still benefit from some competition. How about we play matchmaker, giving Washington said competition?
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- No. 4 Pick
Washington Commanders Receive:
- QB Jordan Love
- No. 19 Pick
- 2024 3rd Round Pick
- 2025 1st Round Pick
Now, Washington has the ability to get a healthy competition going in addition to netting a whole lot of draft capital. Meanwhile, the Packers move up and select their quarterback of the future.
Would The Packers Trade Jordan Love At This Point?
In short, it is very unlikely. Through the first 15 games, there has been plenty to like about Love’s potential in this league. There have certainly been ups and downs, however, comparing his first 15 games to Aaron Rodgers’ is encouraging.
Jordan Love through 15 games:
Total: 304-of-486 passing (62.6 percent), 3,368 yards, 25 touchdowns vs. 11 interceptions, 90.8 rating.
Aaron Rodgers through 15 games:
Total: 296-of-466 passing (63.5 percent), 3,470 yards, 23 touchdowns vs. 12 interceptions, 91.8 rating.
Additionally, the Packers are banking on this young group of weapons to grow with Love for years to come.
