It is pretty safe to say that the Green Bay Packers have found their new franchise quarterback. In their first season without Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre as the starter, Jordan Love had a better first season than either of his predecessors. He finished the year with a 64.% completion percentage, 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.1 passer rating.
Despite the Packers’ loss in the divisional round, the vibes surrounding the team are mostly positive. With rumors that the team is close to hiring 32-year old Christian Parker as their next defensive coordinator, there is even a buzz around the defense that has not been felt since 2019 when Green Bay signed Preston Smith, Za’Darius Smith, and Adrian Amos.
None of the optimism surrounding the team would be possible if it were not for Love’s success. Indeed, his high-level of play has endeared him to fans, many of whom doubted him going into the season. Love has also to have made an interesting connection with Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Earlier this year, Marquette coach Shaka Smart took his team on a tour of Lambeau Field. Footage of the visit revealed that every single Marquette player was wearing a Love jersey. On Saturday afternoon, Love was seen courtside at Fiserv Forum to take in Marquette’s victory over Seton Hall, and there was something different about him that fans noticed right away.

Marquette Head Coach Shaka Smart Praises Jordan Love After the Game
After the game, Marquette head coach Shaka Smart reacted to Love sitting courtside at the game:
#MU HC Shaka Smart closed out his presser this afternoon with a message to #Packers QB Jordan Love:
“My favorite quarterback was in the house… @jordan3love, we have to find a way to get your address so we can send you a bunch of Marquette gear.” pic.twitter.com/VOLuZmK28t
— Ashley Washburn (@ashleyjwashburn) January 27, 2024
“My favorite quarterback was in the house! I love Jordan Love. You know, since I got into coaching, I haven’t watched much NFL. But I watch the Packers now because of him. And so to have him here was phenomenal and, Jordan, we got to find a way to get your address so we can send you a bunch of Marquette gear and you, too, are undefeated.”
It certainly was cool to see Love at a college basketball game in Milwaukee. A California native, he has obviously decided to stay in the area a little longer.
