In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers will have the 23rd overall pick in the first round. Over the last several years, Green Bay has made many interesting choices in the first round.
It feels like the Green Bay Packers have been drafting projects in the first round rather than drafting players who can help the roster now. It will be interesting to see how General Manager Brian Gutekunst addresses the 2025 NFL Draft. One team that could potentially make some trades during the NFL Draft is the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pro Football Network Has the Green Bay Packers Trading Out Of the Second-Round With the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Pro Football Network decided to update its 2025 NFL Mock Draft. In the latest mock draft, they have the Jacksonville Jaguars trading its 70th and 88th overall selections in the third round to the Green Bay Packers for the 54th overall pick in the second round.
With this trade, the Packers would then have three third-round picks. With the 70th overall pick in the third round, Green Bay would select wide receiver Savion Williams from the TCU Horned Frogs. The Pro Football Network said about this selection:
“Savion Williams is a physical and athletic wide receiver with the ability to make contested catches and create mismatches against defenders. He uses his size and strong hands to win at the catch point, excelling in jump-ball situations and red-zone opportunities. Williams runs crisp routes and shows good body control, allowing him to adjust to off-target throws.
His physicality also makes him a tough assignment for defenders after the catch, as he fights through tackles for extra yardage. While adding more consistency to his releases and route tree would enhance his impact, Williams is a reliable and dynamic playmaker.”
There is no doubt that the Green Bay Packers at some point in the 2025 NFL Draft will be drafting a wide receiver. Williams this past season caught 60 passes for 611 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 10.2 yards per reception. He also rushed for 322 yards on 51 carries and six touchdowns, along with averaging 6.3 yards per catch.
Savion Williams is 6’5″ and weighs 225 lbs. This is the kind of wide receiver that the Green Bay Packers need to draft in the later rounds.
Other Third Round Picks
In the other third-round picks, the Green Bay Packers would select Josaiah Stewart, EDGE rusher from the Michigan Wolverines with the 87th overall pick, and cornerback Zy Alexander from the LSU Tigers with the 88th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
All three of those selections for the Green Bay Packers in the 2025 NFL Draft would be positions of need. However, it would feel unlikely for Green Bay to trade away a second-round pick because that is where they seem to draft really well.
