The Green Bay Packers did not address some key needs during the 2024 NFL Draft. Even though the 2024 season has yet to kick off, there are already NFL mock drafts being produced for the 2025 NFL Draft season.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It will be an exciting time for Packers fans and other NFL fans when the time comes, but there is more to worry about now than that.
They have to worry about who will make the 53-man roster out of training camp for the 2024 season. There have been a lot of Green Bay Packers fans who have questioned general manager Brian Gutekunst’s draft picks over the past several years despite the progress of some players.
Sayre Bedinger Of nflspinzone.com Has the Green Bay Packers Selecting Oregon Ducks Cornerback Jabbar Muhammad 24th Overall In the 2025 NFL Draft
In the 2024 NFL Draft, Green Bay failed to address the cornerback position in the early rounds. They drafted cornerback Kalen King from Penn State in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. King is on the bubble to make the Green Bay Packers 53-man roster this season.
It makes sense the Packers would select a cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft in the first round. In reality, they should have done that in the 2024 NFL Draft instead of taking offensive tackle Jordan Morgan from Arizona.
Sayre Bedinger of nflspinzone.com has the Green Bay Packers selecting Washington Huskies cornerback Jabbar Muhammad with the 24th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Bedinger said:
“There’s no question that Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur have assembled one of the best all-around rosters in the NFL heading into 2024. They’ve found their quarterback of the future in Jordan Love, who shockingly finished 2nd in the NFL last year in passing touchdowns. One area of the roster that was unfortunately neglected this offseason despite having 11 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft was the cornerback position.
The Packers were jumped in the 1st round by the Lions for Terrion Arnold. They were jumped in the 2nd round by the Eagles for Cooper DeJean. They aren’t going to be denied here with Oregon Ducks corner Jabbar Muhammad falling to them at pick #24 overall. Muhammad was a stud at Washington and has a chance to solidify 1st-round status this coming season. The biggest issue here for the Packers might be size. Muhammad is listed at 5-10, 175 pounds, which wouldn’t meet some of their minimum thresholds.”
Muhammad last season with the Washington Huskies recorded 46 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, three interceptions, and 14 pass deflections. He transferred to the Oregon Ducks football program during the offseason. Entering the 2024 season, only Jaire Alexander is solidified to be one of the starting cornerbacks on the Green Bay Packers roster.
Carrington Valentine and Eric Stokes will compete for the other starting spot on the roster. In the long run, if the Green Bay Packers have the opportunity to draft Jabbar Muhammad in the 2025 NFL Draft, they would do it because they need another quality starting cornerback on the roster.
