The Green Bay Packers made its final roster cuts on Tuesday. There were a lot of questions about Grant DuBose potentially making the 53-man roster as a wide receiver. DuBose was a seventh-round pick out of Charlotte in the 2023 NFL Draft.
At one point during the preseason, there was a thought that DuBose was going to be a slam dunk to make the 53-man roster for the Packers. However, did he make the team or not?
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Grant DuBose Does Not Make the 53-Man Roster
DuBose did not make the team after performing well in the preseason. He caught five passes for 66 yards receiving this preseason. DuBose averaged 13.2 yards per catch and he was targeted nine times.
Malik Heath, Bo Melton, Dontayvion Wicks, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed all made the team for the wide receiver position. Some thought that there were going to be seven wide receivers on the team, but the Green Bay Packers decided to go in a different direction.
It will be interesting to see if DuBose will go on the Packers practice squad or if another team is going to take a chance on him. Green Bay’s receiver room is loaded with talent.
NFL Teams Should Take a Flyer On Him
There are NFL teams that no doubt need wide receiver help. A couple of teams who should take a look at Grant DuBose are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers. Pittsburgh is not deep outside of George Pickens and the Chargers do not have much depth at the position. Ladd McConkey is the primary receiver on the Chargers and he is only a rookie.
If Grant DuBose does not get claimed by another team, it would be a surprise. If he were to be back on the Green Bay Packers practice squad, it would not be a surprise if he were to be elevated to the 53-man roster at some point during the 2024 season. Injuries happen throughout an NFL season and DuBose would just be waiting to make an opportunity for himself.
