If the season ends today, the Green Bay Packers will be at the sixth spot of the National Football Conference. That means a wildcard seeding for them.
The Packers’ second straight playoff appearance was secured through their dominant victory over the New Orleans Saints and now, it is time to imagine what seed they would get with two games remaining.
They meet the Minnesota Vikings in a decisive battle on December 29 and then face the already-eliminated Chicago Bears in the last week.
Here’s the current seeding so far in the NFC:
- Detroit Lions: 13-2
- Philadelphia Eagles: 12-3
- Los Angeles Rams: 9-6
- Atlanta Falcons: 8-7
- Minnesota Vikings: 13-2
- Green Bay Packers: 11-4
- Washington Commanders: 10-5
Lions, Eagles, Vikings, and Packers have all secured their ticket to the next round. Teams still on the hunt are the Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Highest seed the Green Bay Packers can reach
Should the Packers lose to the Vikings, the Commanders are right there breathing on their neck. The latter even has the tie breaker against them.
The no. 5 seed is not yet secured for Green Bay and so, their fans should hope that Falcons beat Washington.
If the Packers stay at sixth spot, they will face the Rams, a familiar foe who they beat in Week 5.
Here’s how they can climb to the fifth spot.
The Packers need to win their last two games and the Lions should suffer a second straight defeat in the hands of the Lions.
Green Bay and Minnesota will get tied up but the former have the tie breaker by virtue of their win against them.
Worst case scenario for the Packers is if they lose both games and get seeded at 7th. This means playing a more well-rounded team in Eagles that beat them in Week 1.
