Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Tim Boyle signed with the Tennessee Titans. He played for the Lions, Bears, Giants, Jets, Dolphins and Texans.
Boyle’s journey has been tumultuous, with only five touchdowns against 13 interceptions in his career. This decision comes as the Titans are widely expected to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first pick.
Tim Boyle Playing College Football for UConn
In college, he only attempted 275 passes over three years as a backup QB for Connecticut. He completed 48.4% of his passes, for 4.7 yards per attempt, and threw one TD and 13 interceptions in his UConn career.
He then transferred to Eastern Kentucky, redshirted one year, and started at EKU as a redshirt senior. During that year, he threw for an incredible 2,134 yards and 11 TDs, with another 13 interceptions.
Thoughts on Tim Boyle as an NFL QB
In other words, Tim Boyle has been, statistically, a terrible-to-mediocre college QB, and one of the worst QBs to get significant playing time in the NFL in the past decade. He’s now 31 years old, and there have been no apparent indications that he will be anything more than bad if he ever sees the field.
Boyle has not demonstrated the requisite skills to be regarded as a competent quarterback in the NFL. Remarkably, numerous NFL teams have, at times, failed to identify at least three quarterbacks who possess greater on-field value than Boyle. He may possess substantial knowledge of game strategy and analysis, but his potential as a player does not appear promising.
