The Green Bay Packers did not keep Grant DuBose on the 53-man roster when roster cuts were announced by 3 p.m. CT this past Tuesday. Green Bay kept six wide receivers on the roster. Many thought that there was a chance that they were going to keep seven on the roster instead.
With DuBose getting cut, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, Bo Melton, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs were the wide receivers who made the Green Bay Packers roster. Along with DuBose, another main wide receiver who was cut was Samori Toure. Toure went to the Chicago Bears practice squad.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Grant DuBose Gets Claimed By the Miami Dolphins
It was not a surprise to see DuBose get claimed by another team. It would have been a surprise if no one claimed him and wound up back on the Green Bay Packers practice squad. The Miami Dolphins claimed Grant DuBose and he will be on Miami’s 53-man roster.
During the preseason with Green Bay, he caught five passes for 66 yards receiving. He also had 13 yards after the catch and four first downs. Grant DuBose was a seventh-round pick (256th overall selection) in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Charlotte.
Current Dolphins Wide Receiver Depth Chart
There could be a chance that Grant DuBose sees the field this season for the Miami Dolphins. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will be the top two wide receivers on Miami’s roster. With Odell Beckham Jr. being on the PUP list at the moment, the other starter for Miami at the moment is Braxton Berrios.
Malik Washington and Grant DuBose are the other two wide receivers on the Miami Dolphins roster at the moment who are healthy. DuBose will be catching passes from Tua Tagovailoa instead of Jordan Love.
With him being claimed by Miami, DuBose is not in a crowded wide receiver like he would have been with the Green Bay Packers. The Miami Dolphins needed depth on the roster. They are not deep outside of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Odell Beckham Jr, being hurt for Miami is a big deal for them right now. He will miss at least the first four games of the 2024 season.
In Green Bay, had the Packers kept seven wide receivers on the roster, DuBose would have been the seventh wide receiver on the roster and he would not have seen much of an opportunity with them. It was interesting that the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Los Angeles Chargers did not try and make a claim for him. This was a good move for the Miami Dolphins.
