The Green Bay Packers were able to punch a ticket into the NFL playoffs with a massive Week 18 win over the Chicago Bears. Now, they are focused on facing off against the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round.
While the success on the field the last couple of weeks, there is still a good chance that the Packers will make a big change on the coaching staff in the offseason. Joe Barry, the team’s defensive coordinator, is likely still going to be let go. The team’s defense simply hasn’t performed well for a vast majority of the season.
If that move is indeed made, there are questions about who the Packers could hire. After Mike Vrabel was fired by the Tennessee Titans, there were fans who wanted him to be the team’s new defensive coordinator. That isn’t going to happen, but another option might be close by to Vrabel.
Green Bay Packers Writer Suggests Interesting Defensive Coordinator Candidate
Wendell Ferreira of AtoZSports took to X, former known as Twitter, to share an interesting defensive coordinator option for the Green Bay Packers to consider.
Packers fans shouldn't hold their breath for Mike Vrabel, he's gonna be a HC again. But Shane Bowen is the Titans DC. Smart coach and he was the OLB coach when LaFleur spent a year in Nashville.

Shane Bowen would certainly be an interesting candidate. He also has a history with LaFleur, as Ferreira noted.
One thing has become clear since LaFleur joined the Packers, which is that he loves bringing in people he knows. He is very much a “connections” guy. That should make Bowen a very legitimate candidate.
Another candidate that fans would love to see replace Barry is Dallas Cowboys’ defensive backs coach Al Harris. Harris is a former Packers’ star cornerback who was instrumental in a lot of successful years for the Green Bay Packers. He seems to be the fan favorite for the job right now.
Expect to hear quite a few rumors about the Packers’ defensive coordinator job in the offseason. Barry could simply be brought back after a great two-game stand to end the season, but that seems unlikely.
