The Green Bay Packers have many questions about the wide receiver room entering this offseason. Last offseason, many thought a wide receiver or two would take the next jump and it never occurred.
This offseason, one of the missions for this football team is to find a true number-one wide receiver. There are many different ways they can address this issue. Outside of Jayden Reed on this roster, nothing feels set in stone for this position for the 2025 NFL season.
Green Bay Packers Reporter Thinks They Should Take a Look At New York Giants Wide Receiver Darius Slayton In Free Agency
The Green Bay Packers will be taking a look at free-agent wide receivers this offseason. One name who will be on the market is New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton. He was on the Giants for the past six seasons and is 28 years old.
Slayton was the number one receiving option from 2019 to 2023 until New York drafted wide receiver Malik Nabers in the 2024 NFL Draft from LSU. Michael Rodney said on his Twitter page:
“One veteran wide receiver who might be worth a look in free agency is Darius Slayton of the Giants. The 28-year-old won’t be cheap, but he won’t be too expensive and could blossom playing with an actual quarterback. Slayton is an explosive receiver and willing blocker.”
Slayton in the past has proven to be a big-play receiver for the New York Giants. This past season, he caught 39 passes for 573 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with averaging 14.7 yards per catch. Darius Slayton was targeted 71 times last season.
The Giants are not expected to bring him back this offseason. Slayton would be a nice addition to any team that needs wide receiver help. He would be a good option to help Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love to stretch the field.

It would be interesting to see how the Green Bay Packers would address the wide receiver room this offseason. Signing Darius Slayton would get some interesting reactions from this fanbase because he isn’t the splashy name Tee Higgins is. The only two wide receivers on the Packers roster that had fewer yards per reception last season than Darius Slayton were Christian Watson (21.4) and Jayden Reed (15.6).
