Year 2025 is important for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson but the problem is, he will not be able to start it.
Watson is on the last year of his rookie contract he signed in 2022 worth $9.241 million. He has to start the season on the sideline as he is still recovering from an ACL injury he incurred at the end of the 2024 season.
That is just one issue he has right now.
Another thing that could affect his standing with the organization is the surplus of wide receivers in the squad. With him still recuperating, the team decided to draft two wide receivers in the 2025 draft.
That is a decision that appears to be unacceptable to his father.
“Obviously the Packers brass saw it differently. That literally happens everyday between teams, fans, media, and even their own players,” Tazim Wajid Wajed said in April.

“Everybody won’t agree on direction. However, what matters is the folks making the decisions. Now, we all get to see how THIS decision materializes.”
Christian Watson stays ready
Watson won’ be able to play until November. He thinks he might be there for them for five games.
Will that be enough for him to prove his worth? The 2022 34th overall pick says he will just play his game the way he knows.
“Obviously I want to play in as many games as possible,” Watson said via ESPN.
“I hope it’s all of them, but I’ve got to take it as it is. Whether it’s 15 games or five games, I feel like as long as I’m able to go out there and just prove that I am what I was before the injury and be me, that the rest is going to take care of itself. That’s been my mentality. I’ve just got to get back to being me and the rest will take care of itself.”
Right now, head coach Matt LaFleur will turn to his old reliables Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs. Rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams are also expected to see great minutes.
