Almost the entire Green Bay Packers fan base are happy with the team’s decision to select Matthew Golden for their 23rd pick as the team dealt with issues on their wide receivers in the past season. Christian Watson’s family felt differently though.

His father Tazim Wajid Wajed and brother Tre became a hot topic in Packers community on Friday due to their reactions concerning their family members’ team’s draft selection.
Christian plays wide receiver and his ACL injury confirmed on January 5 puts question about his future with the team.
“These idiots, man.”
That’s what Tre was heard saying during an appearance in a podcast that livestreamed the 2025 NFL draft that the Packers also hosted.
The father is not as receptive, too.
“It is what it is,” Wajed said.
“More power to the young man, but I’m going to tell you right now, they deserve whatever they get. They deserve whatever they get.”
Before the podcast, Wajed already previewed Golden’s selection and it is not something favorable.
Will Christian Watson remain with the Green Bay Packers?
The Watson family explained that their reactions are not really about feeling threatened that Christian will lose his spot. They said it is more about for the betterment of the team.
“Our response to the pick has to do with what we see as making the team better,” Wajed wrote on X after getting criticism for his reaction.
He also expressed hope that this move will bear fruits for them come the playoffs.

“Obviously the Packers brass saw it differently. That literally happens everyday between teams, fans, media, and even their own players. Everybody won’t agree on direction. However, what matters is the folks making the decisions. Now, we all get to see how THIS decision materializes.”
Right now, there is no concrete report yet on Watson’s future with the Packers as he is still recovering from an ACL injury.
The best answer on this would rely more on how Golden will perform for the team in his rookie year.
