Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has seen the latter days of his NFL career play out in a different way than he had envisioned. Of course, he wanted to spend his entire playing career in Green Bay, something that his predecessor, Brett Favre, was not able to do. Instead, Green Bay drafted Jordan Love in 2020 and eventually made him the starting quarterback in 2023.
Rodgers, of course, was traded to the New York Jets (just like Favre) in the hopes that he could help elevate that franchise back into postseason contention. Unfortunately for both the four-time NFL MVP and the Jets, that did not come close to happening.
Rodgers missed virtually all of the 2023 season with a torn Achilles and then led New York to a woeful 5-12 record in 2024. Along the way, the Jets fired their head coach and general manager, Woody Johnson soured on his quarterback, and the team decided that they do not want the future Pro Football Hall of Famer back in 2025.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Has Been Linked to Several NFL Teams

Multiple recent reports have stated that the new leadership of the Jets has informed Rodgers that they will be going in a different direction at the quarterback position in 2025. And while the four-time NFL MVP has not yet publicly stated that he desires to play in the NFL again next season, many assume that he will based on the fact that he is not one to let outside forces determine his decisions.
In other words, he will retire when he wants to retire, not because a team cuts or trades him.
Since news of New York’s decision became public knowledge, Rodgers has been linked to multiple quarterback-needy teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders.
But one other team, one with another aging quarterback, has recently gained traction as a possible landing spot for the future Hall of Famer.
The Los Angeles Rams Just Hired former Green Bay Packers Coach Alex Van Pelt, an Aaron Rodgers Favorite

In recent days, it has been reported the the Los Angeles Rams have granted quarterback Matthew Stafford, who led them to a Super Bowl win, permission to seek a trade. What is more, many NFL analysts believe that Los Angeles’ short-term plan to replace Stafford is to sign Rodgers.
And while that may have seemed far-fetched when first reported, it is worth noting that the Rams have just hired one of Rodgers’ favorite coaches: Alex Van Pelt:

Van Pelt was Rodgers’ quarterback coach with the Packers from 2014-2017 when he left to become the quarterbacks coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. Green Bay fans may recall that, at the time, Rodgers was furious with former head coach Mike McCarthy for allowing Van Pelt to leave.
Since leaving the Packers, Van Pelt has also served as the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
