At one point last week, the Green Bay Packers saw both their offensive coordinator, Adam Stenavich, and defensive coordinator, Jeff Hafley, interview for NFL head coaching jobs. Stenavich interviewed for the Chicago Bears position that ultimately went to Ben Johnson, and Hafley interviewed with the New York Jets, who ultimately hired Aaron Glenn.
Both Johnson and Glenn were coordinators with the Detroit Lions.
In addition to their offensive and defensive coordinators getting head coach interviews, the Packers fired defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich and saw quarterbacks coach Tom Clements retire (again).
Green Bay Packers Offensive Coordinator Adam Stenavich Interviewed with the Seattle Seahawks
According to a report by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports that centered on former Philadelphia Eagles and college head coach Chip Kelly getting offensive coordinator interviews in this coaching cycle, it was revealed that Stenavich has interviewed for the open position with the Seattle Seahawks:
“OC gigs with the Eagles, Commanders, Packers and/or Giants could come open depending on how the interview process shakes out. Kellen Moore and Mike Kafka are candidates for the New Orleans job, Adam Stenavich has interviewed for the Seattle offensive coordinator role and Kliff Kingsbury has indicated he won’t consider any other job until the Commanders season concludes.”
Earlier this month, Seattle fired Ryan Grubb after just one year.
As the Packers offensive coordinator, Stenavich does not get to call plays because the offense is designed and called by head coach Matt LaFleur. A move to Seattle would, in a way, be a promotion for Steno as their head coach, Mike MacDonald, is a defensive-minded coach.
Becoming a play-caller would go a long way in helping Stenavich get more head coaching interviews.
Green Bay Packers Fans React to Adam Stenavich Interviewing with the Seattle Seahawks
News of Stenavich’s interview was met with mixed reactions by Packers fans. Some would hate to see him go, mainly because they fear LaFleur would give Luke Getsy the job to replace Stenavich:
Feels like that would be Getsy’s job then. Not sure how I feel about that.

This screams Luke Getsy as new OC

Losing Stenavich would be a huge loss

If Adam Stenavich got hired away, one of the first calls I’d make as Matt LaFleur would be to Doug Pederson.

They never learned from Hackett

It will be interesting to see what happens with this development. Stenavich, a Marshfield, Wisconsin native, has been with the Packers since 2019. However, if he wants to advance in his career, he will need to become a play-calling offensive coordinator, and everyone knows LaFleur is not going to give up those responsibilities.
Going to a team like Seattle makes a lot of sense for him personally.
