Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is facing a crossroads in his career. Earlier today, it was reported that the Minnesota Vikings, the team that the four-time NFL MVP most wanted to play for after being released by the New York Jets, have informed him that they do not plan on pursuing him at this time.
In other words, he will not be following Brett Favre‘s post-Green Bay arc after all.
There now are just two other NFL teams that are reportedly interested in signing the future Pro Football Hall of Famer, but his signing with either of them is far from a guarantee. One of these teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers, are willing to go into the 2025 season with Mason Rudolph as their starter. The New York Giants, the other team that has expressed interest, is also looking into signing Russell Wilson.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers May Find It Hard to Get a Media Job

Many NFL players start a career as an analyst following their playing careers. Seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady, for example, is one of the primary broadcasters for FOX during the NFL season.
But while Brady and many others have found success in their second careers, it sounds like Rodgers may find it difficult to get his foot in the door.
Per a report by Front Office Sports:
“Rodgers, who will turn 42 in December, is smart, incisive, and highly quotable. Media outfits typically desire those qualities. So what’s the problem? None of the network executives or talent agents I talked to would go on the record. If asked publicly about Rodgers, they’d likely say they’re happy with their current broadcast teams and have no cast openings. Some might choose the all-purpose ‘If he wants to talk to us, we’d be happy to talk with him.’
“Their main concern, under condition of anonymity, is that Rodgers comes off as a pompous know-it-all who would turn off viewers. His dalliance with COVID-19 conspiracy theories and public feuds with critics like Jimmy Kimmel on The Pat McAfee Show also concern some. With that in mind, the prospect of hiring Rodgers does not thrill executives.
“’Yes, he could be a great analyst. But he’s insufferable,’ said one source. Rodgers ‘needs an image rehab,’ warned another.”
The fact of the matter is that, despite how well-spoken Rodgers is and how intelligent he is in regard to the sport of football, the things he has said publicly regarding controversial topics have made him, at least in the eyes of media executives, unhireable.
It does not matter that Rodgers was just named the Philanthropist of the Year in the state of California in recognition of the millions of dollars he quietly donated to wild fire efforts. His reputation as someone who will unapologetically stir the pot appears to have already scared any potential media employers away.
