Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets before the 2023 NFL season. This signaled the move from Rodgers to Jordan Love for the franchise and it has turned out well for them over the last two seasons.
Green Bay made the playoffs both seasons and New York did not. Aaron Rodgers could very well be on the move again this offseason. If the Jets decide to move on from Rodgers this offseason, it will be interesting to see if he would retire or be traded to another team.
Pro Football Network Creates Bold Prediction That Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Will Be Traded To the Las Vegas Raiders
Pro Football Network created bold predictions for the upcoming offseason. They created 10 bold predictions and one of the bold predictions is the New York Jets trading Aaron Rodgers to the Las Vegas Raiders. This would be very interesting because the Jets acquired wide receiver Davante Adams from the Raiders during the 2024 NFL season.
Rodgers and Adams are really close friends and it would be surprising to see them separated again. Pro Football Network said:
“The Las Vegas Raiders did not hire Pete Carroll for a long rebuild. At 73 years old, Carroll is unlikely to be there for the long haul, which means the Raiders need to take a step to challenge sooner rather than later.
There aren’t many free agent options that would transform a team into an instant challenger. Carroll may think he can do it with Russell Wilson, but that would be a risk.
Rodgers, though, could be available for a trade and potentially make Vegas a challenger. Of course, that’s a risk, given what we saw from him last season. He ranked lower in PFN’s Quarterback+ than Wilson last season, so by no means is it a slam-dunk.
Rodgers is a relatively cheap experiment in 2025. He would only cost $9.5 million against the cap and $37.5 million in cash for the year. With more than $90 million in cap space, the Raiders can then also make moves to enhance Rodgers’ chances of succeeding. Davante Adams reunion, anyone?
The problem is that Rodgers’ recent QB+ numbers are concerning. In 2022, he was graded as a D+ (68.0), and in 2024 he was a C- (72.1). Yet, we’ve seen him bounce back in the past, and in the right situation, there is that potential.
Part owner of the Raiders, Tom Brady won a Super Bowl at 44 years old. If anyone would know how to help get the best out of Rodgers at 41, it would be Brady.”
The AFC West is a very tough division. Aaron Rodgers during the 2024 NFL season with the New York Jets completed 63.0% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Rodgers would be a major upgrade for the Las Vegas Raiders at quarterback.
They will have the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward can both be off the board by then. The Raiders are better off finding a bridge quarterback for the 2025 season and drafting someone in the later rounds to develop.
Other Suitors
Other than the Raiders, there will be other teams who will want the former Green Bay Packers quarterback if the Jets do not bring him back next season. Three teams to potentially watch for are the Tennessee Titans, the New York Giants, and the Minnesota Vikings.
There is plenty of time to figure out what the New York Jets want to do with Aaron Rodgers. If new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn does not want him on the team in 2025, it would be interesting to see what they would do at quarterback. Rodgers being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason would be a surprise, but a Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll reunion feels more likely however for next season.
