Former Green Bay Packers stars Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams are going to miss the NFL Playoffs this season. At 4-11, the New York Jets have been eliminated from postseason contention for weeks in what has been one of the most embarrassing seasons in the NFL this year. The season has gone so poorly in New York that many wonder if either Rodgers or Adams will be brought back in 2025.
As the Jets prepare for their Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, who have already clinched a the AFC East, many wondered in New York would bench their stars and just call it a season.
Rodgers, though, said they is no way he is going to sit, despite the fact he is dealing with an MCL injury. He and Adams still have something to play for.
Former Green Bay Packers Stars Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams Can Move Up Some Impressive NFL All-Time Lists
With is touchdown pass to Adams last week against the Los Angeles Rams, Rodgers reached 499 for his career. Already fifth in NFL history in career touchdown passes, the former Packers quarterback needs just one more to become the fifth player ever with 500:
- Tom Brady- 649
- Drew Brees- 571
- Peyton Manning- 539
- Brett Favre- 508
- Aaron Rodgers- 499
In addition to moving Rodgers closer to 500 career touchdown passes, that throw to Adams was the 82nd time that the pair connected throughout their careers (including postseason). This moved them into a tie with Dan Marino and Mark Clayton for the third-most touchdown connections between a quarterback and pass catcher:
- Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison- 114
- Steve Young and Jerry Rice- 92
- Dan Marion and Mark Clayton- 82
- Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams- 82
- Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown- 78
Obviously, another touchdown between the two would give them third place all-time by themselves.
Interestingly, Adams caught Rodgers’ 200th and 400th career touchdown passes. It is very likely that the future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback will be looking Adams’ way if they get into scoring range.
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams with the New York Jets in 2024
As mentioned, it is unclear whether or not Rodgers and Adams will be back with the Jets in 2025. Despite their poor record, it is worth noting that they lost six games in which they were once leading in the fourth quarter. Perhaps having a better front office and coaching staff will help next year, too.
There is no question that Rodgers has looked his age (41) a great deal this season. That being said, he has still put up decent numbers:
- 62.8% completion percentage
- 3,511 passing yards
- 24 touchdowns
- Eight interceptions
- 90.8 passer rating
Since being traded to the Jets by the Las Vegas Raiders, Adams has put up (in nine games):
- 56 receptions
- 719 yards
- Six touchdowns
Adams has 74 receptions for 928 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games played between New York and Las Vegas this year.
