There are few, if any, current Green Bay Packers players that have endeared themselves to fans like running back Aaron Jones has. Not only does he now rank third on the franchise’s all-time rushing list, Jones is consistently out in the community using his platform to make a difference for others. As if he could not be more beloved by Packers fans, Jones took a $5 million pay cut this offseason to allow himself to stay with the team and help the Packers re-sign other players.

Green Bay Packers Running Back Aaron Jones Has Inspiring Words About His Pay Cut
On Tuesday, Jones and several current and former Packers players are heading out on the annual Packers Tailgate Tour. As the players were loading the bus, Jones took a few moments to answer questions from media members who were there. One of the questions regarded his taking a $5 million pay cut to stay with the Packers, and his answer is nothing short of endearing:

"Wouldn't say a pay cut cause I've never made $11 mil in my career so still most have ever made & still has me at second highest paid RB. It matched up w/market, & I didn't want to be greedy." pic.twitter.com/rwl2uKilRf

“Because I wanted to be here. You know, this is home for me. Those guys in the locker room are like brothers to me. The people upstairs, they believe in me. They’ve believed in me since I got here. That’s been huge for me. Like I said, this is home for me.
“And it just made sense, you know, deal wise. You know the market for running backs, there was a huge gap between $16 million and Christian McCaffery who makes like $12 million. So I wouldn’t say a pay cut cause I’ve never made $11 million in my career so still most have ever made and still has me at second highest paid running back. It matched up with the market, and I didn’t want to be greedy.
“I’m a team player, wanted to help the team. Help them get as many guys in here as we can so if that means giving up a little bit of money, I will.”
When asked if he will buy anything for himself after his signing bonus hits, Jones said he probably wouldn’t. However, he did state that he would probably buy something for his mom.
What a guy!
