Sunday will be a special day for former Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones. Now with the Minnesota Vikings, Jones will be playing his first game at his old stomping grounds, Lambeau Field, since parting ways with the Packers in the offseason and signing with the Vikings.
Aaron Jones looking to do Green Bay Packers tradition but in a Minnesota Vikings uniform
Asked if he intends to do a “Lambeau Leap” if he finds the end zone against the Packers, Jones said that there’s no way he would deny himself of the opportunity even though he’s playing for a different team now.
“If you’re not thinking about the end zone, you’re thinking about the wrong thing,” Jones told reporters on Wednesday.
“No, definitely. And I’m definitely leaping, definitely leaping up there. It depends on which end zone I’m scoring, but I’m either end zone is not too tall. So it is kind of high up there, but I can still get up there. So either one. Hopefully, there’s a Vikings fan in one of them, so I can jump up to them. I think that’ll be a pretty cool shot, a pretty cool side-by-side with the two jerseys.”
Jones is having a solid start in his Vikings career, and slowing him down will be a point of emphasis for the Packers on Sunday. After three games, Jones has 228 rushing yards and a touchdown on 42 carries. He also has 97 receiving yards and a touchdown on 12 receptions and 14 targets for the undefeated Vikings squad.
The 29-year-old Jones spent his first seven seasons in the NFL with the Packers, who selected him in the fifth round of the NFL draft in 2017.
