Even as the Green Bay Packers make a legitimate charge to the postseason, cornerback has become a going concern on Jaff Hafley’s defense.
Despite safety Xavier McKinney playing at an All-Pro level in his first season since signing as a free agent this offseason, the Packers’ secondary has been vulnerable to big plays on the perimeter in the passing game and Green Bay’s cornerback room besieged by injuries, including to veteran Jaire Alexander.
There’s a very real possibility that Alexander will be elsewhere in 2025, and cornerback could be a top priority for general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers in next spring’s NFL Draft.
That’s the exact direction the Packers take in The 33rd Team’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, projecting the Packers select East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel with the 26th pick next spring.
“The Packers are making a stretch run toward the postseason without Jaire Alexander on the field,” Kyle Crabbs writes for The 33rd Team. “And the cornerback room beyond him is full of questions and/or youth. A talent like Shavon Revel may be in for a bit of a slide due to a season-ending injury, but his talents warrant being long gone by this chapter of the first round. This value would be off the charts for Green Bay and the Packers could address a need with a massive cornerback with budding ball skills.”
Crabbs compares Revel to former Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers legend Richard Sherman, and if he can come close to living up to those expectations would certainly be a welcomed addition into Hafley’s secondary.
What Would Shavon Revel Bring the Green Bay Packers?
Across three seasons at East Carolina, Revel appeared in 24 games while posting 70 total tackles with three interceptions, five tackles for loss, one sack, and 15 pass breakups as a versatile playmaker on the back-end of the defense.
Playing in a division that houses elite wide receivers such as Minnesota Vikings electrifying playmakers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, as well as Lions stars Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, it is easy to see why the Packers would make a player like Revel a top priority in next spring’s draft.
