The Green Bay Packers are coming off a bye as they will face off against their division rival the Chicago Bears. The Packers have won 10 straight against the Bears.
Backs against the wall, the Bears fired OC Shane Waldron, promoted some guy nobody really knows what he is going to throw out there. The head coach is a complete disaster, and the national media is all over them-rightfully so-and quarterback Caleb Williams is being talked about as if he may be benched. Chicago is coming off a 19-3 loss against the New England Patriots.
Here are three matchups to watch out for:
Packers defense vs QB Caleb Williams
The Packers got 22 sacks and 19 takeaways this season before the bye week. They’re doing it without major pieces of their defense. They go to Chicago on Sunday to play a Bears rookie quarterback in Caleb Williams and an overmatched offensive line.
Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was 16 of 30 for only 120 yards passing against the Patriots. He has 1,785 yards passing with nine touchdowns and five interceptions this season. Williams has not lived up to expectations of a number 1 pick, but the Bears offensive line has given up 38 sacks.
RB Josh Jacobs vs DeAndre Swift
Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been the most overlooked running back in the NFL this year. Jacobs is top 3 in the NFL in yards after contact. He comes in 4th in the NFL with 762 rushing yards.
Bears running back DeAndre Swift had been on a tear over the past four weeks, scoring each week and also hitting 90+ yards rushing in three of the last four games. These last two games have not been that way, with only 51 yards rushing against the Cardinals and 59 yards rushing against the Patriots.
Safety Xavier McKinney vs WR DJ Moore
Packers’ safety Xavier McKinney has six interceptions this season, which ties for 1st alongside Lions safety Kerby Joseph. He’s a ball-hawking defender that generates turnovers.
Bears wide receiver DJ Moore only had three catches for 24 yards against the Patriots. He’s had a rough stretch of games this season. Patriots’ cornerback Christian Gonzalez locked up Bears’ wide receivers, including Moore.
