The first return of the 2025 NBA All-Star Game voting has been released with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo getting the most votes more than anyone, receiving 1.7 million, 300,000 more than the next one.
The result comes on the heels of the Greek Freak’s rant about his team not getting a schedule for Christmas wherein he suggested that it is wrong that last year’s most popular vote getter in the All-Star is not playing.
“I was the No. 1. Dame was a starter. I was a starter. Dame won the MVP,” he said two weeks ago.
“Dame won the 3-point contest. Maybe that has nothing to do with it. I believe we were one of the best teams in the East last year. Maybe not this year, OK. We don’t get a Christmas game. Why?”
If Antetokounmpo’s standing in the All-Star Game voting holds, he will join an elite rank of players who got the most votes for the event multiple times.
Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers did it ten times, seven straight while Michael Jordan was the most popular during the break nine times.
Giannis Antetokounmpo joined by Damian Lillard
Another thing that was validated about Antetokounmpo’s sentiment is the inclusion of Damian Lillard who placed third among Eastern Conference guards.
LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets got the most votes in that position with around 947,000 followed by Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell who received 718,084.
Over at the Western Conference, three-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is the top vote getter and second overall behind Giannis with 1.4 million votes. He is followed by Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns with 1.26 million.
Interestingly, King James popularity for the voting period is underwhelming as he is only third in the Western Conference with 1.16 million. He is ranked just fifth overall.
Jayson Tatum has more than votes him with 1.3 million, making the Boston Celtics star the third most popular for now.
