Days haven’t been very bright of late for Giannis Antetokounmpo and the 26-22 Milwaukee Bucks over the last several days. They are on a four-game losing skid, and just Monday, they got thrashed in a 125-96 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road at Paycom Center. However, Antetokounmpo and many other key Bucks players did not play in that game for mostly rest purposes.
After a full day of rest on Tuesday, the Bucks are returning to action this Wednesday night as they continue their road trip with an upcoming meeting with the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center.
Will Giannis Antetokounmpo return to action versus the Hornets?
At the time of this writing, Antetokoumpo’s status for the Charlotte game appears to still be up in the air. The NBA’s official injury report has the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player labeled with a questionable status due to right patella tendinopathy. It’s a knee issue that Antetokounmpo has been dealing with all season, and could potentially hold him out for a second game in a row.
Milwaukee could opt to rest its key players again, including Antetokounmpo, considering the quality of its opponent. It is already the first week of February, but the Hornets still have only 12 wins.
That being said, the Hornets have been competitive this season when up against the Bucks. Charlotte and Milwaukee are 1-1 in their regular-season series. It is worth noting though that the Hornets will not have the services of LaMelo Ball this Wednesday because of a sprained ankle.
So far in the 2024-25 season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.8 points on 60.8 percent shooting from the field, 12.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
