It is well-known among many that Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio hates the Green Bay Packers. A Minnesota Vikings fan, Florio has never missed an opportunity to take a dig at the franchise that has run the NFC North over the past few years. As might be expected, Florio had a field day with the news that Aaron Rodgers had tested positive for COVID. Of course, as a journalist, he has certain liberties that entitle him to his opinion, no matter how misguided they might be. Unfortunately for him, his latest attack on the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers landed him on the social media battlefield with Kurt Benkert.
.@ProFootballTalk this is just shit journalism.
1. Know the facts of a story before you make random ideas up and publish them.
2. It’s unprofessional to put words in people’s mouth.1.6 M followers w/ 0 attention. Have to do something to get the numbers up I guess. pic.twitter.com/AMSI6IXFLB

Florio Apologizes At First
In response to Kurt Benkert and his public criticism, someone (many assume Florio), tweeted an apology to Benkert. Benkerty himself has also test positive for COVID-19 and is not listed on the Packers’ active roster.
Thank for pointing out the mistake. I checked the practice squad, but your name wasn't on it. I forgot that you're on COVID reserve, too. I hope you're feeling better.

As was expected, Green Bay Packers fans, who adore Kurt Benkert, were quick to come to the fan-favorite’s defense as well.
You are the definition of hack journalism. Don’t you EVER disrespect our KING @KurtBenkert EVER again https://t.co/FBOYcCdRC2

Florio Attempts a Final Shot
As a result of Florio’s poor journalism, Kurt Benkert blocked Pro Football Talk on Twitter. Apparently, the apology the account offered to Benkert was insincere, as the account then posted this:
Maybe I shouldn't have said he has never taken a snap in a regular-season game, and probably never will. pic.twitter.com/K7D5muhwa0

Kurt Benkert: Undisputed Heavyweight Twitter Champ
In order to just make it to NFL practice squads, players need to be elite athletes. There is no shame in having that role, which is a job many people would gladly take over the one they currently hold. As for Kurt Benkert, he had the perfect retort:
I’d rather be a career bench warmer then make a living off of shitty content. Cheers 🍻 pic.twitter.com/4xmhz13FaG
— Kurt Benkert 🧑🏽🚀 (@KurtBenkert) November 6, 2021
So perfect was Benkert’s response that he himself added a new title to his social media bio:
The only thing that disappoints me about K-0’ing someone on Twitter is that they get their impressions up because of it. pic.twitter.com/VzpduKWWRI

Conclusion
How does anyone forget about Kurt Benkert? Ever since he arrived in Green Bay, he has done nothing but Carry the G. Earlier this year, we published an article explain how he embodies what it means to be a Packer. Shortly after that, it was reported that Benkert was honored by the US Navy. In short, Kurt Benkert is just an all-around good guy.
The lesson: Don’t cross the good guy, especially with baseless falsehoods. Kurt Benkert may not be the Green Bay Packers starter, but he is a Packer. And we love him.
