In an exclusive interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, a Wisconsin football target opened up about the surprising offer.
Jack Duckworth, a 2026 athlete from Texas, has been on the Wisconsin football radar for quite some time now. Duckworth was one of the first 2026 recruits to receive a scholarship from the Wisconsin football staff, and the offer certainly came as a surprise. During the interview, Duckworth revealed how he has handled his collegiate recruitment, his reaction to the Wisconsin football offer, as well as what his dream scholarship is.
Wisconsin Football Target Jack Duckworth ‘Realized Potential’ Following Scholarship Offer
Early in March of this year, the Wisconsin football staff began to heavily search through the 2026 class to offer their initial wave of scholarships. Among the players offered was three-star athlete Jack Duckworth, who comes from a very familiar high school for the Wisconsin staff. Rockwall High School was the home to current Badgers’ quarterback Braedyn Locke, as well as his brother and 2025 commitment Landyn Locke.
Following Wisconsin football offering Duckworth a scholarship, the athlete stated, “It was very shocking because it was one of my first Power Four offers.” The athlete has experience playing as both a receiver and a cornerback in high school, but has primarily been in contact with Cornerbacks Coach Paul Haynes. Duckworth believes that he will play cornerback at the collegiate level, which appears to be the position he has mainly been recruited to play.
The athlete has also been offered by Arizona State, Texas State, North Texas, and Arkansas to name a few.
Jack Duckworth: “I Definitely Feel I Have Not Scratched the Surface Yet”
Following the scholarship offer from Wisconsin, Duckworth stated, “Wisconsin is a winning program so that really made me realize how much potential they see for me in the future.” The athlete also stated that he feels the offer from Wisconsin caused him to focus much more on the development of his skills.
While some recruits feel their game might be complete before college, Duckworth believes he has not scratched the surface of his potential yet. The athlete stated, “I definitely feel I have not scratched the surface yet, I 100% believe there is much more work to put in.”
With more time left to develop and perfect his skills before collegiate football, Duckworth could become a four-star recruit in no time.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Putting in Effort to Build Relationship With Duckworth
As Duckworth continues to reel in scholarship offers, the Wisconsin Badgers football staff continues to work to build a relationship with the recruit. While Duckworth has been vocal about earning a scholarship offer from his dream school, Arkansas, the athlete admitted Wisconsin remains a possible landing spot. Duckworth stated, “100% it is because I love the fact that their corners coach, Coach Haynes, has put effort in to have a relationship with me while still an underclassman.”
