Excitement hit the Greece basketball community last week when Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo confirmed that he is playing for his national team at EuroBasket 2025.

The Greek Freak is joined in the team by his two brothers Thanasis and Kostas in the team. They are hoping to do better than their finish in last edition where they only reached the quarterfinals.
Preparations for the tournament are well underway but Antetokounmpo is not with the team in their pre-tournament match up. Was he injured or is there some drama the public does not know?
Head coach coach Vassilis Spanoulis said he is not sure when will the two-time MVP suit up for them.
“We don’t know yet if he will play in Thessaloniki, Giannis will be on the court when he should be,” Spanoulis said in a local broadcast when asked about his star player.

The coach did clarify that the team will surely have the Greek Freak with them in the tournament. The only issue is that he has his own preparation.
“As Spanoulis has already clarified, Giannis is following his own preparation program and he is expected to be ready when the official games start,” EuroHoops.net reported.
Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Greece bowed to Serbia
Greece national team are among the Top 4 teams with best odds to win EuroBasket 2025 with Serbia owning the highest odds.
Spanoulis could have sized up their main obstacle on the road to European glory during pre-season but Antetokounmpo was not there.
Jokic had a feast to give his county a 76-66 victory. The Denver Nuggets star posted 23 points and 19 rebounds in the win.

Antetokounmpo already missed the game against Israel. Their next pre-season match up is against Montenegro.
EuroBasket 2025 will start on August 27. Greece are part of a death group together with Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia.
