ESPN called Joe Barry out
The Green Bay Packers’ defense suffered a major collapse Week 5 in London. Following the defeat, defensive coordination Joe Barry announced changes would be coming to the Packers’ defense. Cornerback Jaire Alexander is on board with the new game plan against the New York Jets in Week 6. That didn’t stop the national media from making fun of Barry’s defense this week.
On ESPN’s NFL Live, the crew roasted Barry’s defense for giving up so many passing receptions. One of the hosts, Mina Kimes, called the defense soft in a funny comment on the Packers’ secondary:
“The defense drives me crazy, Laura [Rutledge], because they’re so talented at every level. But they play like they’re being chaperoned at a middle school date, you know, where you got to leave room for the holy ghost. I mean, they’re so soft.”
The Packers defense is giving receivers the 3rd most cushion before the snap in the NFL, and, along those lines, allowing the highest completion percentage. Why?!! 😫 pic.twitter.com/D8FNRP3JKp

The Packers’ defense needs to come out mad in Week 6
It’s been a long week following the plane trip from London for the Packers. The team has received numerous complaints from fans about the team’s early season performance. Fans want players cut and coaches fired, as the team has started with a disappointing 3-2 record.
The defense must play with a chip on their shoulder Sunday against the Jets. The Jets come into Week 6, winners of three of their last four games. This game will be more of a challenge than many analysts would have thought in training camp. The Packers’ defense needs to come out firing to prove they’re the elite team they were predicted to be before the start of the season.
If the Packers can shut down quarterback Zach Wilson down, a lot of anger in the fanbase will start to subside for at least another week. The Packers’ next opponent will be the Washington Commanders. That should be more of a warm-up for the secondary before the Packers take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football in Week 8.
