The Green Bay Packers have continued to explore adding wide receivers to their team for the upcoming 2025 campaign. While trade scenarios for DK Metcalf have been continually discussed, and speculation for free agent signings like Stefon Diggs have added to the dialogue, one player the Packers could be looking to reunite with is former star wideout Davante Adams. The 32-year-old was released by the New York Jets on Tuesday morning and now can sign with any team.

Is Davante Adams’ Next Stop Following Release from New York Jets a Return to the Green Bay Packers?
Davante Adams is officially available to sign following his release from the New York Jets. Although he is far past his prime and hasn’t played a game in a Packers uniform since January 2022, he is still a top player with a lot to offer his next team.

Green Bay could certainly do with adding a high-level wide receiver to a current crop that, while boasts impressive depth, lacks a top talent. Adams would definitely be less expensive than a player like DK Metcalf or Tee Higgins. Fans seem open to the idea, with many fans encouraging the Pack to pursue Adams even prior to his release.

The entire situation has some element of strangeness too it. The Jets likely shopped Adams on the trade market prior to the decision to release him, and the fact that he was released outright points to no team willing to offer anything in return for him.
A couple of years ago the Packers receive a first-round pick and a second-round pick for Davante Adams.
Today the Jets, unable to trade him for any compensation, released him.

Los Angeles Chargers Penned as “Coolest” Move for Davante Adams
Rumors surrounding Adams’ next move will swirl for the time being, including a potential return to the Green Bay Packers. However, some have ideas of Adams adding a new team to his CV. NFL analyst Benjamin Solak voiced his thoughts on Twitter, saying that the Chargers would be his coolest fit for the veteran receiver.
(The coolest Davante landing spot is the Chargers imo)

The Chargers have a talented quarterback in Justin Herbert that some have compared to Aaron Rodgers. They currently lack top-end wide receiver talent as well, with their top pass-catcher last season being a rookie in Ladd McConkey. Adams would make some sense in LA.
Others are of the opinion that Adams will be following Aaron Rodgers to wherever he ends up. It is certainly possible that the two long-time teammates will look to remain a package deal.
