Many Milwaukee Bucks fans thought they got a good deal by landing Jericho Sims who is an instant contributor to the team since arriving there in early January.

“How did we get him?” some ask. Thing is even the Bucks coaching staff doesn’t know him. Their starting point on the 2021 58th overall pick is almost zero as head coach Doc Rivers revealed that he/they had no idea who he was before they got him.
“Jericho, we know nothing about. [GM] Jon [Horst] said ‘Hey! We can get this guy named Jericho Sims and he showed me the film and showed his athleticism,” Rivers told reporters on Friday.
There was another Wisconsin favorite who helped them get to know Sims more.
Rivers said he sought Marquette Golden Eagles coach Shaka Smart’s opinion about Sims. Smart coached the big man when they were still both part of the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA.

“Had a long talk with Shaka Smart. Shaka had him and Shaka loved him. He said he’s quiet. And I said ‘That’s good. We got a bunch of guys that talk too much.’ So he’s perfect for us.”
Rivers ended the interview about Sims by praising his performance in the past games.
“Jericho, he’s been amazing for us.”
Bucks news for Orlando Magic game
Jericho Sims will continue to have a prominent role in the line-up based on the latest injury report as the team’s bench will have one key reliever and their usual sixth man back up big.

The team will not have Gary Trent Jr. still after missing the last game due to right knee hyperextension. He is currently listed as doubtful.
They will also continue to miss the presence of Bobby Portis who is still serving his 25-game suspension. Newly acquired 6’10 forward is yet to see Bucks minutes as he is dealing with a left ankle sprain.
