Some Milwaukee Bucks were ready to accept that their team will have a hard time against the Miami Heat due to adversities they faced leading the tip-off. Giannis Antetokounmpo refuses to call it adversity.
The Greek Freak and company had to deal with cancelled flight back in New Orleans due to heavy snow storm.
They also got locked up in their hotel room and have to wait before thy can fly because of the weather condition that devastated parts of Lousiana and Texas.
Doc Rivers earlier complained that his team were only able to do lifting twice and that they lacked the necessary activities to be in the right condition before they played Miami.
Not having done any cardio for three days and then showing up for a game two hours before the game off an airplane, my guess is our science team would probably say this is not the healthiest thing to do,” Rivers said hours before tip off.
The Heat won the game convincingly with Antetokounmpo scoring 25 points on 55.6 percent shooting and getting and 12 rebounds.
Damian Lillard did not score in the first quarter but still ended up with an almost triple double of 29 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has different perspective on the issue
What happened to the Bucks this week is a rare occurrence and should not be used as an excuse. That’s what Antetokounmpo is preaching.
Talking to reporters post-game, Antetokounmpo, who was announced as an All-Star Game starter hours before, said what they went through is not among the tough challenges he has faced.
At the end of the day, we still woke up in a five-star hotel, had breakfast, sit down as a team, talked as a team while we were waiting for the bus. We had a pretty nice bus ride. And we went to our plane, charter plane, private plane, everybody has their own seat. You can order some food on the plane. Get some fruit if you want. They have drinks too.
He also expressed admiration to his team for responding well to the different kind of challenge.
For me, those conditions are not that bad. I’ve been in way, way worse conditions in my life, but if you want to call this adversity, I’m very happy and proud of how the team responded. Even though we did all that, we were locked in and came in here to win.
The tired Bucks gets a one-day rest and will then embark on a four-game road trip which will include one back-to-back games.
