Marvin Williams is being bought out of his contract by the Charlotte Hornets. Once he clears waivers, he will be signing with the Milwaukee Bucks. Dragan Bender will be waived to make space on the roster for him. Read on to find out more about new Bucks player, Marvin Williams.
The 34-year old Williams is in his 15th season in the NBA. He was drafted with the second overall pick in the 2005 draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Williams averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in his rookie season, earning him 2nd Team All Rookie honors. He averaged over 10 points in each of his next six seasons with the Hawks. In 2012, the Hawks traded Williams to the Utah Jazz for Devin Harris (former Badger). He spent two seasons with the Jazz, but failed to average more than 10 points a game in either season.
Williams signed as a free agent with the Hornets in 2014. At this point in his career, Williams is a solid bench player who is known as a good perimeter defender. The Milwaukee Bucks do not have many weakness, but defending the 3 has been a concern among fans and followers of the team. Williams will provide good support off the bench, as well as adding some size and veteran leadership. He has career averages of 10.3 points and 5.2 rebounds a game.
