There are many opinions on Brian Gutekunst, the Green Bay Packers general manager. Especially this offseason with the ongoing Aaron Rodgers saga, everyone has an opinion on how he is handling negotiations. Yesterday, Gregg Rosenthal came out with his GM rankings on NFL.com. He has Gutekunst as a top 10 GM in the NFL.

Brian Gutekunst: Top 10 GM
Gutekunst comes in at number eight on the list. Rosenthal points to a couple of reasons why he has him so high. He has had some above-average drafts, especially last year with Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Kingsley Enagbare all playing significant snaps. It isn’t just the draft but savvy re-signings as well. The Elgton Jenkins extension already looks like a bargain and he tends to find ways to plug in holes with cheap veterans. Ultimately, Gutekunst’s legacy will be defined by Jordan Love and his development. If he pans out, Gutekunst should vault into the top five in the league.

Others On The List
Howie Roseman of the Philadelphia Eagles was ranked as the number one overall GM. Then the rest of the top 10 isn’t very surprising. GMs of the Chiefs, 49ers, Bengals, and other teams that have seen success in the past half-decade are on the list. The biggest jump would be NFC North rival Brad Holmes with the Detroit Lions who is one spot ahead of Gutekunst. The rebuild the Lions have put together has been near perfect and now they find themselves as the favorites in the NFC North. They aren’t quite there yet but are slated to have a big draft.
This is a big draft for Brian Gutekunst. He needs to fill out the roster around Love and usher the team into a new era.
