One of the bigger stories about Milwaukee Brewers before the start of the 2025 MLB season was Willy Adames leaving the team and getting the bag with the San Francisco Giants.

The 28-year-old shortstop signed a seven-year, $182 million contract with the National League West franchise. That is the largest contract ever given by San Francisco in team history.
He joined Milwaukee in 20210 from the Tampa Bay Rays and arguably had his best year as a professional baseball professional in Brewers colors. He was among the 20 most valuable players that year when it comes to wins above replacement.
He is set to revisit the Brewers this weekend for a three-game series and was asked about the team’s current run. The Brewers have been the best team for more than a month now. They are first to reach 80 wins this season.
Their current state is far from what they looked like during the first month. Far from what they looked like before Adames left when they were surrounded with uncertainty.

Giants hosted the Brewers back in April and they beat Pat Murphy’s squad three times against one.
Willy Adames praised Milwaukee Brewers energy and bond
Brewers were struggling with the absence of key players when Giants first met them but now, almost everyone steps up to pull wins, some of them appeared improbable.
Adames sees players who are very well committed to the team and are having fun at the same time.
“They have something special going on,” Adames said in an interview with The Athletic.

He also thought that the players he left behind got good energy and got good relationship with each other.
“They play with their soul on the field,” Adames said.
“They play hard. They dive for everything. They hustle and that’s something you can’t teach. They’re dogs, man. They play hard and aggressive. That’s how you win. You can’t play safe.”
