The Milwaukee Brewers notched their first series win of the 2025 season by winning two out of three games against the Kansas City Royals.
In game one, the Brew Crew’s pitching woes from the Yankees series continued as they were blown out 11-1. A day later they rebounded with a 5-0 shutout win. To finish the series, they earned a hard fought extra innings victory in which a Brice Turang walk-off bunt in the 11th was the game ending at-bat.
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in 11 innings

Wednesday afternoons Brewers game was excellent from a pitching standpoint, but frustrating from an offensive perspective. Starting pitcher Freddy Perlata tossed eight innings while giving up one earned run. The only other run given up by Milwaukee came in the 10th and was due to the automatic runner placed on second base scoring.
Offensively, Jackson Chourio homered in the first inning and doubled in the tying run in the 10th inning, but outside of that the Brewers squandered multiple chances. They had runners at second and third base with nobody out in the seventh, but failed to score. They also loaded the bases with no body out in the 10th inning, but didn’t score.
Overall the Brewers struck out 17 times and went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position, but they did manage to win thanks to a Brice Turang walk-off bunt in the 11th inning.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy shared key advice before Brice Turang’s walk-off bunt

In the 11th inning, Brice Turang walked up to the plate having previously gone 0-5 with three strikeouts. However, the winning run was 90 feet away and there was another runner on first base. He managed to put his past at-bats and the pressure of the moment aside and won the game with a perfect bunt down the first base line.

Before Turang stepped up to the plate, his manager did share some advice with him. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Murphy said to Turang, “It’s a good idea to put a bunt down the first-base line right here, and we’ll win the game. It’s going to be a breaking ball.”
Murphy ended up being right regarding both things, as Milwaukee won on a walk-off bunt and the pitch thrown was a slider. That was solid advice and sharp recognition from a man who has been around the game for a long time.
