The Milwaukee Brewers were not expecting to be 3-4 after their first seven games. The injuries have already piled up to their starting pitching staff. Aaron Civale was the newest pitcher added to the Injured List with a hamstring injury. He joins Brandon Woodruff and Tobias Myers, who are working their way back into the starting rotation. It is anticipated that both Myers and Woodruff will commence rehab assignments within the next two weeks.
The Brewers started in the Bronx getting swept by the New York Yankees and their new “Torpedo” bats. A barrage of 36 runs and 15 home runs powered the Yankees to a dominant three-game sweep, leaving the Brewers shell-shocked.
They would go on to Kansas City and lose the first of four games 11-1, giving up 14 hits to the Royals. Elvin Rodriguez had to start this one and he was chased out of the game after four innings. The Brewers would go on and win the next three games in a row, also tossing two shutouts. They got a nice start out of Chad Patrick who didn’t get the win but did pitch four scoreless innings on Tuesday.
The Brewers would win Wednesday’s game on a Brice Turang walk-off that would set up a winning streak. Nestor Cortes came back Thursday with a 6-inning shutout gem to lower his ERA to 9.00 after that brutal Yankees game. The hitting is doing ok for the first few games but their top two power hitters William Contreras and Christian Yelich only have 2 hits in 44 at-bats, one of them an extra-base hit.
So despite the slow start from their two big power hitters, and the injuries to the starting rotation, the Brewers have done a good job piecing guys into the rotation until Woodruff, Civale, and Myers get back.

Brewers Pitcher Injury Updates: Rehab Timelines and Status
Brandon Woodruff cleared a major hurdle on Tuesday as he battles back from a serious shoulder injury. Woodruff tossed a three-inning simulated game and Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal shared he could be approaching a rehab start.
“Brandon Woodruff got through his 3 inning, 51 pitch simulated game with positive reviews today,” Hogg said. “He could be making a rehab start — likely with Nashville — as soon as the end of next weekend, potentially.”
Tobias Myers is tentatively expected to return in mid-April barring any setbacks. Myers injured his oblique back on March 24th and has been itching to get back on the active roster. He got a closer by throwing 38 pitches in live batting practice on Thursday. He is scheduled for minor league rehab starts with Triple-A Nashville on April 8,13 and 18 before potentially being called up to the majors.
The Brewers desperately need some pitching depth and it shouldn’t be too much longer until they get it. Their bullpen ranks last in the MLB in ERA (6.68), earned runs (46), and towards the bottom in WHIP (1.40). You could contribute that to the Yankees “Torpedo” series as the Brewers have bounced back nicely this week.
Brewers’ Prospect Makes Statement in 2025 Debut
The Brewer’s top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski started his 2025 Triple-A campaign off with a five-inning shutout. Although he ended with a no-decision, Misiorowski threw five innings, striking out seven and only giving up one hit. He has the stuff to be a top starter or closer on a major league team, his four-pitch mix with a 97-99 MPH fastball can get hitters to look foolish. Look for Misorowski to be called up at some point during this season, but a very promising start so far.
