In 2022, the Milwaukee Brewers missed making the playoffs for the first time since 2018. They underwent several changes during the offseason that started with David Stearns stepping down and Matt Arnold taking over as the new head of baseball operations. A slew of trades ensued over the next few months and lots of new players were brought in. One big question surrounding these moves is if it will be enough for the Brewers to overtake the Cardinals for the National League Central title.
If the Brewers don’t win the division, they could benefit from the expanded playoff format. Last season, the first season with the new playoff format, the Philadelphia Phillies made it to the World Series despite being the last team to get into the playoffs. In baseball, all you need to do is “get in” and give yourself a chance.
As we approach the start of the 2023 season, the Milwaukee Brewers World Series odds are surprising.
The numbers below are courtesy of fangraphs. They indicate that the Brewers have the 10th best World Series odds at 3.2%. Their division rivals in the St. Louis Cardinals are ranked right above them at 5.1%.
