The Green Bay Packers’ season is in full swing. After their week one loss to the Minnesota Vikings the Packers look to get back on track against Chicago in week two. That means fielding the best 53 man roster and practice squad possible. With the departure of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the same off-season, the wide receiver position has been in flux ever since. That will seemingly continue until players identify themselves as the top WRs on the team. Today the Green Bay Packers cut a practice squad wide receiver that had impressed at times. Wide receiver Malik Taylor was cut on an injury settlement.
Wide Receiver Malik Taylor Cut By Green Bay
Malik Taylor had an uphill battle to the Packers 53-man roster. Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, Sammy Watkins, and Amari Rodgers are having good camps, and are veterans. They were joined by the Packers’ three wide receiver draft picks: Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure. Not only that, but Juwann Winfree was called up for game one Vs Minnesota.
Taylor’s tenure with the Packers ends without much fanfare. Malik Taylor made the 53-man roster in 2020 and 2021. Unfortunately, Taylor could never get his preseason production to translate to the the regular season. Last year, he had just two receptions for 14 yards in 10 games. In 2020, he had appeared in 15 games and caught five passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.
