The Green Bay Packers and New York Jets have been working on an Aaron Rodgers trade for several weeks. The Jets and Packers have disagreed on proper compensation for the four-time MVP quarterback. With the draft deadline approaching, it appears the two teams came to a compromise.
The New York Jets are getting Aaron Rodgers
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Jets and Packers have agreed to terms for Rodgers to go to New York. The Packers will receive a second-round pick in the 2023 draft from the Jets. The Jets would send a conditional first-round pick to the Packers in 2024.

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, Rodgers will sign a revised contract with the Packers to help the team’s cap space. The deal will be finalized before the draft.
It’ll be a day or two before the Aaron Rodgers trade is submitted to the league office — he’ll sign a revised contract with the #Packers to facilitate the trade and help Green Bay’s cap. But everything has been agreed to and will be official before the draft. He’ll be a Jet. https://t.co/xFcU9AHSnq

According to Adam Schefter, Rodgers will wear the number 12 jersey next season. Joe Namath, who wore the number 12 the last time the Jets won a Super Bowl, has given permission for Rodgers to wear the jersey.
Although Hall-of-Fame QB Joe Namath gave Aaron Rodgers his blessing to wear No. 12, the new Jets‘ QB is expected to wear No. 8 — the number he wore in college at Cal.

This is an excellent deal for the Packers. They are getting much-needed picks for Rodgers and a deal on cap space. That’s precisely what the team needed.
