The Marquette Golden Eagles are 8-0 to start the 2024-2025 college basketball season and they appear to look better this season than they did last season with Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro. Marquette has more players contributing this season to their wins and they are one of the deepest teams in college basketball.
Head coach Shaka Smart has his players ready to play on a night-to-night basis. Kam Jones is one of the best players in the entire country. Some other key players on this roster are Chase Ross, David Joplin, Ben Gold, and Stevie Mitchell.
Marquette Golden Eagles Ranked 5th In the Country On Monday
Just a little while ago, the new AP Top 25 was released for college basketball. The Marquette Golden Eagles jumped up to the fifth-ranked team in the country. Marquette has been playing like a Top 5 team all season long. This is no surprise that they are ranked in the Top 5 in December.
This week will be a huge week on the college basketball schedule for the Golden Eagles. They will face the #6 Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday night and then Marquette will face the #11 Wisconsin Badgers at home on Saturday afternoon. This will be a big test for the Golden Eagles.
The Marquette Golden Eagles are only one of two teams in the BIG East that is ranked in the Top 25 along with the UCONN Huskies at number 25. The Golden Eagles can not be disappointing this week.

There is a lot of excitement within the Marquette Golden Eagles fanbase. If they continue to play like this, there is a chance that they could be one of the number-one seeds in the 2025 NCAA Tournament come March. There is plenty of work to do for them but wins against Iowa State and Wisconsin this week would be a great start toward that goal.
