Many Milwaukee Bucks come at Bobby Portis as they blame him for a defensive laps that led to a Cam Johnson three points at a time when the game was still for anybody’s taking.
The Bucks, playing without their superstar and defensive juggernaut Giannis Antetokounmpo as well clutch shooter Damian Lillard, lost to the visiting Brooklyn, 105-111.
The hosts pretty much had everything in control in the first 40 minutes until the Nets made a run and them committing costly mistakes.
The one play being put under the microscope is the switch play between Portis and AJ Green with 52 seconds to play, with the Nets ahead by just one point.
Portis, who is at the center of trade rumors in the past weeks, was the first one to be blamed for the play with some Bucks fans on X saying it was wrong for him to double Ben Simmons on the three-point line since he is clearly not a 3-point threat.
Doubling ben Simmons at the three point line and leaving one of the best shooters in the league wide open is sum crazy shit man idk what anyone’s idea here was💀

He is a good passer though and once he noticed that Johnson was free, he gave up the ball. Johnson made the three and even got an and-1 after Bucks guard Ryan Rollins tried to compensate for his teammates mistake.
Was it Bobby Portis or AJ Green’s mistake?
Head coach Doc Rivers has a different explanation on the botched defensive play.
Portis was not trying to double team Simmons. Instead, somebody forgot to go under.
“It was a switch that we shouldn’t have switched,” Rivers said post game.
“We hadn’t switched that all night. Whenever Ben had the ball, the guy guarding Ben was supposed to just go under. That was what Bobby was doing. The guy guarding Cam decided to switch.”
The Bucks lost and team can only wish that their superstars will play next game.
Portis finished the game with 18 point and 8 rebounds. Khris Middleton put up team high 21 points while Brook Lopez had 20.
