Aaron Rodgers recently advised a Green Bay Packers rival quarterback after they suffered an Achilles injury. Rodgers is battling an Achilles injury he sustained during the New York Jets Week 1 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Rodgers has appeared to make a recovery faster than what is typical for a torn Achilles injury. Rodgers underwent an experimental procedure to try and quicken the pace of his recovery. Rodgers and the Jets are hopeful Rodgers can return sometime this season.
Aaron Rodgers helps a former rival quarterback
Rodgers thinks his recovery can help other players recover faster. According to Rich Cimini with ESPN, Rodgers said he had been in touch with Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins after Cousins suffered an Achilles injury in Week 9:
“I have a lot of respect for him and just got to talk to him — hopefully, encourage him a little bit,” Rodgers said Tuesday during his weekly spot on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“It sucks. It definitely sucks. He was playing really, really well. … So, I’m disappointed for him with that injury but passed on all the information I could and let him know what’s been working for me.”
Given that Cousins injury came two months into the season, it’s doubtful Cousins could return this season even if his rehab were on pace with Rodgers. But it’s nice to see Rodgers helping fellow NFL athletes recover from the unfortunate setback.

Rodgers and Cousins were rivals in the previous few years in the NFC North. But Rodgers still respects Cousins enough to help him return to the field as soon as possible.
