Aaron Rodgers was expected to take the New York Jets to greater heights when the AFC East division club decided to push their chips to the center of the table in order to acquire the future Hall of Famer back in 2023. Unfortunately for the Jets, their Aaron Rodgers gamble isn’t working according to their initial expectations.
Things got even worse on Sunday in the Rodgers Era in East Rutherford when the Jets suffered a meltdown during a 26-21 loss at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium. The Jets entered that game as the favorite and looked as though they were going to collect a win until their offense dried up in the second half and their defense failed to make timely stops.
When it was all said and done on the field, the Jets reached a new franchise low in the Super Bowl era.
Via ESPN BET:
The Jets are the first team in the Super Bowl era to be favored in 9 of their first 12 games and be 3-9 or worse (no other 3-9 team had even been favored in 8 of their first 12 games) 😬
Aaron Rodgers, Jets are still on a downward spiral
The Jets had a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter versus the Seahawks and had a five-point lead at the half. But Seattle outscored New York in the second half, 10-0.
Rodgers passed for 185 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 21-of-39 completions, but his effort was clearly not enough to tow New York into its fourth win.
The 3-9 Jets are mathematically still alive in the hunt for a playoff spot, but they are also going to need a miracle to reach the postseason given their situation.
