Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not made a decision on whether or not he wants to play in 2025 or retire from the NFL. If he does decide that he wants to play in what would be his age 42 season, he would prefer if it be with the New York Jets. However, if they decide they want to move on from him, he would be open to playing for other teams.
The quarterback situation in New York is complicated. Obviously, Rodgers has to decide if he even wants to play another NFL season. In addition to that, should he desire to play, the next head coach and general manager would have to want him back.
Well, it sounds like the new head coach, at least, wants him around.
New York Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn Would Like to Keep Aaron Rodgers
Earlier today, it was reported that the Jets had hired Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their new head coach. Early in the 2024 season, they had fired Robert Saleh and had Jeff Ulbrich serve as the interim head coach.
They are still looking for a general manager, though Packers Vice President of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan is among the candidates that they have interviewed for the job.
While it remains to be seen if whoever they hire as general manager wants Rodgers in 2025, reports state that Glenn does:

This past season, Rodgers completed 63.0% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 90.5 passer rating.
His backup this past season was Tyrod Taylor, who has been a starter in the NFL before.
