Who is Brewers AAA Rule 5 selection Isaac Collins?
Collins was drafted in 2019 by the Colorado Rockies. He was selected in the ninth round and had made his way up to AA within their organization. His minor league career slash line is .263/.364/.398/.762. Over the past two seasons, he has stolen 21 and 30 bases.
Along with being an effective base stealer, Collins has great plate discipline. This is evidenced by his career .364 on base percentage. In 2021 he drew 55 walks and last year 58. He additionally is a switch hitter.
Defensively, Collins has played the most at second base. He has not played any other infield position, but has a ton of outfield experience. He has logged 341 innings in left field and 449 in center field.
Collins possesses a few traits that the Brewers love. He has defensive versatility, speed, and gets on base. It will be interesting to see what the 25 year old can do in the Brewers organization this year.
