The Green Bay Packers have struggled to sustain any kind of momentum this season. The offense has struggled to put up points and the defense allows teams long drives, game after game. Defensive coordinator, Joe Barry has come under fire lately and many fans would like to see him gone after this season. The Packers will do what’s in the best interest for the organization and team but an interesting name has come up as potential Barry replacement. Brian Flores could be a potential replacement, given he doesn’t land a head coaching job in 2023.
Brian Flores Resume
Before becoming a head coach, Brian Flores spent 11 years as a coach under Bill Belichick. Flores was a defensive assistant, safeties and linebackers coach during his tenure in New England, a real resume builder. Coaching with Belichick fueled calls from several teams in 2019 for head coaching vacancies. Flores was rumored to be the runner up in Green Bay, second behind Matt LaFleur.
Brian Flores was interviewed for the #Packers HC job back in 2019. He reportedly ended up in the second place, right after LaFleur. He is an interesting name for DC in 2023 if they move on from Barry and Flores doesn't get a HC job elsewhere.

Brian Flores ultimately ended up in Miami in 2019. His record was 24-25 over three seasons. The Dolphins struggled in their first season under Flores but rattled off two winning seasons in 2020 and 2021. Following the 2021 season, Flores was fired which shocked many around the league.
Flores, a man of integrity
Following his dismissal from the Miami Dolphins, Flores alleged that owner Stephen Ross incentivized him to lose games. Ross allegedly offered $100,000 per loss. With back to back winning seasons, it’s clear that Flores wasn’t willing to compromise his competitive nature for financial gain. Additionally, Ross allegedly pressured Flores to recruit a prominent quarterback following the 2019 season. Again, Flores ignored requests from the owner making sure he didn’t violate the NFL’s tampering rules.
Following his departure from Miami, Brian Flores subsequently filed a massive lawsuit against the Dolphins, Giants and Broncos. The bulk of Flores lawsuit hopes to shine light on racial injustices that take place in the NFL. The lawsuit could have affected Flores landing another head coaching job immediately after his stint in Miami.
Where is Flores now?
A man with high integrity and character, Mike Tomlin brought Flores onto his staff in Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh, Flores is coaching linebackers and is a senior defensive assistant. Coaching under Tomlin is another resume builder. Coach Tomlin motivates and coaches competitive football teams year in and year out.
Conclusion
With a mixture of Brian Flores coaching tree and experience, he would be a welcomed member to the Green Bay Packer’s organization. Bringing in a man with integrity, high character and passion for the defensive side of the football could help a talented team defense. Given the opportunity, Flores would likely accept a coordinator position, providing he doesn’t get another opportunity as a head coach.
