The Green Bay Packers faced the Minnesota Vikings team in a late October matchup. It was a game that saw the Green Bay Packers offense struggle, as they would go on to lose 24-10. With a rematch on the horizon, offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich is hoping to learn from the last game, to give his team the best chance to win on Sunday.
Green Bay Packers Offensive Coordinator On Last Game Against Vikings
Speaking with reporters, Stenavich was not shy or hesitant about how the Green Bay Packers offense last performed against the Minnesota Vikings. After an almost exasperated gasp, he offered this reflection:
Watching that last game, against the Vikings…it was a pretty ugly game for us. It was probably our lowest point to be honest with you.
How bad was it for Stenavich to view the last performance against the Vikings in this light?
On a night that saw Jordan Love throw for 229 yards on 24 of 41 passing, his one touchdown, and one interception performance, a lot was left to be desired. It was a night that the offense did not click at all, especially considering Love was sacked a total of four times for 33 yards lost.
The receiving corps struggled to get open, and create separation for their quarterback. Along with some drops, it was a hard days work for the receivers, of whom none had more than four receptions on the afternoon.
The offense threw for nearly 100 less yards, and was only able to convert 5 out of 14 third downs, while also going 1 for 4 on fourth down opportunities. It took up until about 4 minutes left until halftime for the Green Bay Packers to get their first, first down.
With how the afternoon went, it is little wonder why Stenavich called it the lowest point for the team of the season.
Green Bay Packers Hopeful Message
For Stenavich, this game served as a waking up call, and taught this young team what can happen in the NFL.
In the long run, it was kind of a good game for us as a gut-check. These young guys seeing that we have to step up, we have to make big plays for Jordan.
Since then, there of course have still been hard moments for this offense, but they have managed to score at least 19 points in the rest of their games from then on. He again reiterated the long term benefits from the game:
That was a good thing for us in the long run for us, just looking back on how the season’s unfolded.
Now with a playoff birth looking likely, this Green Bay Packers offense needs to step up against a talented Minnesota Vikings roster.
Even with a backup, and without TJ Hockenson, this Vikings team has showed the ability to gain yards off of explosive plays. Even at full capacity, it is likely that the Green Bay Packers offense would need to score at least 28 points in order to keep up with the scoring capability of the Vikings.
While the task will be a little tougher without Jaire Alexander, expect Jordan Love, and this offense, to look to continue to build off of their latest 33 point outing, and to set the team up for a playoff birth.
