The Wisconsin football staff has booked plenty of visitors for the upcoming game this season against South Dakota, including a standout tight end.
Korz Loken, a 2027 tight end representing Iola-Scandinavia, is among the recruits scheduled to visit Camp Randall during their matchup against South Dakota. The talented tight end has been in talks with the Wisconsin football staff, but has not received a scholarship offer yet. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Loken broke down his recruitment and early school interests.
Wisconsin Football Secures Visit From In-State Tight End Korz Loken
The Wisconsin football staff has kept a close eye on one of the best recruits in the state in the 2027 recruiting class. It is never too early to start recruiting a class, and Wisconsin understands that as they have worked to develop a relationship with tight end Korz Loken early in his recruitment. Loken, an Iola-Scandinavia tight end, is widely considered one of the top players in the state in his recruiting class.
Loken comes from a very run heavy offense, and has developed a reputation as a physical run-blocker. However, the tight end has been working on his receiving skills and hopes to showcase his ability as a receiver more in the future. As a receiver, Loken considers himself to be a ‘technician’ since he is able to run routes beautifully and shake defenders off in the process.
The tight end currently holds offers from Central Michigan and Iowa State, but has been in contact with Kansas State, Minnesota, and Iowa among others. Loken has not received scholarships from Wisconsin and the other major programs he is in contact with, but hopes to earn them soon.
Loken is going to join teammate and fellow 2027 recruit Jensen Rice at the upcoming South Dakota home game this season. Both will be attending the game as recruits and received field passes to watch the Wisconsin football team up close.
Korz Loken: “I Want a Program that Will Utilize me as a Player and Develop Me…”
For Loken, making it to the next level of play is an absolute pleasure and blessing no matter where it ends up taking him. The first scholarship offer Loken received came from the Iowa State Cyclones, and when asked about that offer the tight end stated, “Iowa State was my first offer and that is always going to mean a lot because they believed in me right from the jump.”
Believing in your players is something that Loken is truly looking hard for at the next level as he eyes a program that can help him the most. When asked about his development and what he is looking for from a school in that department, Loken stated, “I want a program that will utilize me as a player and develop me to the best level possible.”
Development has also been a major factor in the mind of Loken, as he spends the majority of his days focusing on football in one aspect or another. Between developing his blocking skills to working to become a receiving tight end, Loken dedicates his time to becoming the best football player he can be.
How Can the Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Land Loken in the Future?
When speaking with the recruit, Loken made it clear that there are layers of factors leading towards his eventual commitment. Perhaps the most valuable to the recruit is the ‘vibe’ and energy that a staff gives off and the overall fashion in which they treat their players. Loken wants to be surrounded by people who want him there, and want the tight end to develop more than he even wants it.
If the staff cannot drive their players to be the best and love it, then it is not a place for Loken to call home. The tight end is constantly working to improve all aspects of his game, and landing in an environment that strives to do the same thing is ultimately what the athlete is looking for.
When asked about other factors such as playing time and distance, Loken stated, “Obviously I would love to get on the field right away but if my coaches and the staff feels I need to wait two years and then ball out then that is their decision and I respect it and follow it 100%.” Loken also added, “I want to be where I feel accepted and I know I am wanted,” in reference to the location of his future collegiate home.
Loken also added that the Wisconsin football staff has done a ‘great’ job early on making him feel wanted and accepted in Madison.
